What The Fluffle Rabbitry
New Zealand Red Rabbits
As part of our sustainable living, we grow our rabbits to be a decent size for harvesting by three months old. We select our breeding stock to be big, healthy rabbits and we breed for the brightest reds we can achieve. We have high quality bunnies and they are sought out as breeding stock for other rabbitries. We are registered with the ARBA.
Our Bucks
Our main man, Homer
Our second in command, The Mandarin
Our up and comer, Fiver. He will produce pedigree red New Zealand rabbits.
Our Does (Some of them!)
Our babies start off red from the first tufts of hair! It is so exciting to see the babies develop and grow! I love watching them open their eyes and climb from the nest. It’s amazing! Here are so photos of some of our litters at various ages.

Potato, our REW NZ Buck
I genuinely think our reds are some of the prettiest I’ve seen. They are such a gorgeous color! But we frequently have people contact us about getting some of our bunnies for “pets” and I thought the white New Zealands and mixes are more appealing as pets. Plus I love watching our mixes grow up to see what sorts of mystery colors we end up with. I think watching the bunny boxes with the same anticipation will be fun for us all. So we made the decision to add a Red Eye White buck into the Rabbitry.
Enter Potato! He is a gorgeous young fella. He has fathered his first litter of kits and they’re a gorgeous chestnut agouti but I cannot wait to see what other fun colors he will throw! We are hoping to have another mystery color litter between him and a red doe before we give them a winter break.
Bunny genetics are actually pretty complex and fascinating to study. Breeding for specific colors and mixing colors can lead to quite interesting results! The genes that make Potato solid white with red eyes actually cover up all the other genes he’s carrying. So it will be a mystery what colors his babies could be.
After spending some time with Potato, I sorta fell for those big white ears and pink eyes so we decided to add some white does to the Rabbitry allowing us to have purebreds. I don’t regret it a bit! Those sweet pink and white babies have won my heart for sure! They are gorgeous and grow big quickly just like the reds.
We decided to watch for an additional white buck so we could breed separate lines. We added Kohlrabi, aka Kohl, in February 2021 and have been very pleased with his offspring.

Our Blacks and Blues
In the summer of 2021, we started developing our blues and blacks lines. We have used proven stock to develop separate lines of blues and blacks, including broken animals. I cannot wait to start offering more blue and black kits in Winter of 2021.

Champagne D’Argents
Hyzenthlay, breeding doe
The Champagne D’Argent is an amazing and beautiful breed that was originally developed in France. They are born pure black and as they grow they “silver” and change into the exquisite color they’re known for. They are a large breed, and they’re very calm and docile as well. They have a slower growth than the NZ and have a higher food consumption but they grow to be a bit bigger by six months and are a heavier rabbit at maturity.
The calm demeanor of these rabbits makes them excellent for pets and showing. They are awesome rabbits.
