Meet Our Tribe
Me and my girls! It’s the five of us doing a lot of the day to day but none of it would be possible without our family and friends. It takes a village, especially when you’re a single mom.
My mom keeps the boy goats and helps grow out and harvest rabbits. We trade chickens, take the girls on trips, share responsibilities and more. She also teaches my girls’ homeschool curriculum, including art classes and animal husbandry and PE, etc. She helps get girls to dance and soccer, animals to the vet...the list goes on and on. We couldn’t do it without her!

I started this farming adventure in 2018 when I got my first batch of chicks from Tractor Supply. We started with 12 birds and it quickly grew. We fenced in more yard and expanded our flock. We built a raised bed to start a garden in.
Then we added meat rabbits which really boomed during the spring of 2020 when everyone wanted to become more self-sufficient. Then we had the opportunity to add dairy goats in the Spring of 2020, something my mom and I had discussed several times but it just wasn’t possible. We bought our first three does, a buck and a wether. I went back and bought a fourth doe because I really fell in love with her. Now we are waiting on the arrival of our first kids!
I grew up helping my grandparents in their garden and helping with hay and horses and chickens on our farm. I always knew I wanted my kids to understand where their food came from, how to can and preserve, how to take care or animals and the joy of watching something grow.
I believe that being outdoors, getting sweaty and having some dirt under your fingernails is a much more healthy way to live. I found when I cut out the chemicals from my skincare my eczema cleared up. And when I stopped using meat with hormones and started cooking from scratch our digestive issues were resolved.
We not only grow our own fruits, veggies and meat, we consume fermented foods like sourdough, kombucha and kefir.
This has made us all feel so much healthier and happier!
